Uluwatu Temple is one of the tourist attractions on the island of Bali, precisely in Pecatu Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, Bali. Pura Luhur Uluwatu is built on a steep rock with a height of about 97 meters which is believed by Hindus to be a support for 9 winds or called the Sad Kahyangan Temple and functions as a place of worship for God Rudra.

History of Uluwatu Temple
According to local stories, the Uluwatu temple was built in the 11th century by Mpu Kuturan. At that time, Pura Luhur Uluwatu became a place of worship for Dewa Rudra to ask for safety. Apart from building a temple, Mpu Kuturan is also believed to have passed down rules and regulations for traditional villages around the temple which are still known today. Four centuries later, around the 16th century, Dang Hyang Nirartha, a Hindu propagator from East Java, decided to moksa (merge with or return to the presence of the gods) at this temple. In the local language moksa is also called ngeluhur. That is why, the name of Uluwatu Temple was later supplemented by the word sublime, becoming Uluwatu Temple.
Luhur Uluwatu Temple has several ordering temples, namely temples that are closely related to the main temple. These temples include the Bajurit Temple, Pererepan Temple, Kulat Temple, Dalem Selonding Temple, and Dalem Pangleburan Temple. This pretense is directly related to the Luhur Uluwatu Temple during Piodalan, namely the worship of Sang Hyang Widi which takes place every 210 days, on Tuesday Kliwon Wuku Medangsia.
